The Altar Guild is a group of men and women of the church who volunteer to prepare the chancel for Mass and other services. These duties include preparing the hosts and wine for consecration, filling candles, and changing church hangings to appropriate colors for each liturgical season or occasion.

 

The purpose of the Altar Guild is to make sure the celebrant can walk into the church and everything will be ready for service, be it Holy Eucharist, Funeral, Baptism or other.
