It’s exciting to announce that we have our SECOND mission trip scheduled for July 2012. The year we head for an international destination - Canada. This will be a hands-on-building effort that will benefit a Native American community. More details to come as the date approaches. We do have limited slots (10) for this trip so an application and interview process is needed. Applications will be sent to all youth and young adults (up to 20 something) in early November. Watch your email/mail for your application and get them turned in timely.
In order to fund our mission trip, we will hold various fundraisers throughout the year, but our major fundraiser event is in November, the Ho Ho Homicide Murder Mystery Dinner and Silent Auction.
BIG EVENT – NOVEMBER 19th! YOUTH FUNDRAISER: Silent Auction with Ho Ho Homicide comedy/murder mystery performance and dinner. Mark your calendar now! Tickets are $25, with a limited supply. Get your ticket now, before they are gone. Guaranteed to get you in the holiday spirit! See Melissa or a member of the youth for your tickets today! We are seeking donations for the silent auction so, if you would like to donate an item, please contact Melissa Ackman, Ann Morrison or Ainsley Thompson. The auction will provide a great chance to get a jump on holiday shopping, too!
ADVENT BREAKFAST
The youth will be hosting a parish breakfast after the 10:00 Service on the first Sunday of Advent, November 27th. Bring family and friends and join us for a wonderful Advent gathering!
YOUTH CALENDAR
Please note special events in the newsletter. Youth group for all 6th through 12th graders is on Sunday afternoons from 4:30 to 6:00 in the Lyman House. We also meet on Wednesday nights from 6:00 to 7:00 pm for "tutoring time". Friends are welcomed and encouraged!
Youth Group is just finishing a six week, lively and enlightening series on Bullying. It was very surprising to learn how many young people are bullied everyday and the many concerning ways teens deal with the problem. Statistically, 70% of all bullies wind up in prison with at least one conviction by the time they are 25. Girls and boys bully differently; girls tend to use mean words and boys are more physical. Many in our youth group have experienced bullying first hand. They shared ways with how they managed it, and how they have helped friends at school manage with the whole bullying issue. We are indeed blessed with amazing and remarkable young people!
Please take a moment and talk to a member of St. Luke's youth. We have amazing young adults in our midst and are quickly approaching 100% participation in our acolyte program. What a blessing!
Sunday School – 9 to 10 am: in the Dudley House with Fr. Joe Regular youth meetings - 4:30 to 6 pm:
Youth Group in the Lyman House Wednesday – Tutoring Time – 6 to 7 pm in Lyman House
Come see how you can make a difference. If you have any questions or need anything, please contact Melissa! email: stlukesyouth@insightbb.com

Here at St. Luke's we believe that the youth are the church of the present not just of the future. In thinking so, we have developed a youth program that is rich in Christian formation, social programming, and service to our community. It is our goal to create a "safe place" for our youth to come and grow as individuals in Christ. We welcome you and your youth to come and join us during one of our meeting times.
