St. Luke's Choir
St. Luke's Choir leads parishioners in the weekly worship of God through music and our splendid Anglican liturgy. The Choir provides music for special feast days beyond the Sunday morning schedule such as Advent Lessons and Carols, Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Holy Week and Easter.
St. Luke's Choir traveled to Washington, DC (May 2006) to sing at the Washington National Cathedral. A live recording of that glorious day is available in limited quantities.
We await with great anticipation the addition of a new tracker organ built by Martin Pasi, Roy, Washington which will greatly enhance our worship experience. This magnificent organ will challenge choir and congregation to sing their absolute best!
Last Spring, St. Luke's Choir sang Evensong with the Cathedral Choir at Christ Church Cathedral and will join with them again for Advent Lessons and Carols on Sunday, December 11, 2011.
The choir rehearses weekly on Thursday nights and on Sunday mornings before the service. Additional rehearsals are scheduled during the year to prepare for the seasons of Advent, Christmas and Easter.
In the spirit of stewardship, please consider giving of your time and talent as you practice the gift of music and praise to God.
Martin Luther wrote: "Music makes people kinder, gentler, more staid and reasonable. I am strongly persuaded that after theology there is no art that can be placed on the level with music; for beside theology, music is the only art capable of affording peace and joy of heart...the devil flees before the sound of music almost as much as before the Word of God."
